Halloween Love Poem

I think that smoke knows your name by now
Witnessing my whispers so often said
Even Autumn winds repeat it somehow
In rustling leaves-breath inside my head

I moan a wolf’s howl so as not to bite
Larynx vibrating, face turning above,
To be captured in Diana’s pale light
Entreating deaf goddess of my true love.

But I left you wanting. I always do.
Left you seeking something I can’t provide
Impenetrable veil I can’t see through
But must guess the Idol that hides inside.

Though blood calls for blood and bone calls for bone
Did I call for you then leave you alone?
